Spectacular and distant, lonely and forgotten, Choquequirao at 3,085 m.a.s.l. is built at the top of a mountain almost untouched in the province of La Concepción, department of Cusco. This fact explains why it became, along 40 years, the last resistance point of the Sun's children who were looking for shelter under its stone walls when Manco Inca, the rebel Inca, was defeated. Some of the impressive features of Choque-quirao, the other Machu Picchu, are the amazing stone walls protecting it, the greenness of their fabulous land shelves, and all that atmosphere charged with energy probably coming from old ceremonies where they adored the Sun.
The Salcantay Trek from the village of Mollepata to Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu is the most known alternative to the Inca Trail. Sometimes called Mollepata to Machu Picchu, its real name is Salcantay as it highlights this peak which is the highest mountain of the Cordillera Vilcabamba. The trek cross a pass next to the Salcantay above 4600m so acclimatization is a must.
The Pacaya–Samiria National Reserve is one of the largest protected areas in Peru with an area of more than 4 million Acres, containing a rich eco diversity and being the largest reserve in Peru. The reserve is triangular shaped by Marañon and Ucayali River in the South, just before their junction originating the Amazon River

This trek can be performed almost for everybody. Is required a well condition, whowever. Altitude reachs 4215 meters at Abra de Warmihuañusca or 'Dead Woman's Pass. Once in the top hikers can celebrate having completed the most difficult section of the trail.
